Lou Schmitt plays the bass with abandon, infusing surprising texture and unexpected movement to the music of The Blues Shop. Encouraged by his grandmother to follow his heart and be a musician, Lou's influences include the Beatles, Cream, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and Robin Trower. Getty Lee of Rush and Tommy Shannon of Double Trouble are two bass players Lou admires and from whom he feels that he's learned the most.

Lou's solid-as-a-rock bass playing and five year partnership with drummer Rob Fiorino has made The Blues Shop the tightest rhythm section around.
